- Five years or more experience in human factors, user experience and usability

- Financial, Medical or Mobile industry experience (not required but desirable)

Visual Designer/ Usability Analyst
Direct Energy Business

Primary Focus:
The Direct Energy Business Digital Services Team is seeking a talented User Experience (UX) professional with demonstrated strengths in visual and user interaction design to contribute compelling and highly usable digital, web-based content for Direct Energy’s ‘business customers’ and business partners. The designer will report to the Manager of Digital User Experience and be responsible for improving, guiding and developing Direct Energy’s digital assets. This role will work closely with the production and development teams in in all facets of a project lifecycle including design and implementation. This role will also work closely with customers and business partners in designing and testing content.
To determine effectiveness of designs, the successful candidate will work with IS and analytics partners to establish metrics of key performance indicators for designs, monitor and analyze these metrics as well as perform user testing at key points in the development and lifetime of designs. Working with brand managers, marketing and creative partners the designer will create compelling designs that speak to the Direct Energy brand and its value propositions.
Accountabilities:
- Regularly perform usability research and competitive analysis and synthesize findings into actionable recommendations
- Apply personas, user research and scenarios to develop relevant process and user flow models
- Create wireframes, process maps, functional specifications, prototypes and other artifacts to describe the intended user experience
- Create engaging, usable and effective visual design solutions to achieve user-centric goals
- Validate the effectiveness of designs through research and usability studies including A-B testing and user studies
- Create, manage and report on metrics that show the effectiveness of designs in meeting user and stakeholder needs.
- Lead and govern the user centered design process for projects
- Work with internal teams and vendor partners in executing usability tests and creating content
- Work closely with business stakeholders, digital strategists, copyrighters, production team members and marketing in developing solutions
- Ensure marketing, brand, legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements are taken into consideration from the start of projects
- Work on multiple concurrent initiatives with several key stakeholders, sponsors and work streams
Organizational Dimensions/Scope
The individual will work closely with key stakeholders of all functions across the organization to build effective working relationships. Scope will extend to all operational areas in the US and Canada.

Indirect Reports: 1-5: Business Analysts, Subject Matter Experts assigned to projects
Internal Contacts: All DE Business functions
External Contacts: Customers; utility representatives; third-party vendors
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent 3-5 years’ experience in a related role with a strong background in digital user experience and visual design
- Experience running A-B tests, focus groups and user testing
- Demonstrated track record of creating compelling designs (please provide a portfolio of your work)
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated ability to complete work to deadlines
- Enjoys being intellectually challenged and keeping up with a developing field
- Knowledge in the energy industry, specifically Natural Gas & Electricity, is considered a strong asset
