 UPA Conference 2005

Why Stay in the Conference Hotel

Staying at the hotel makes it easy to hang out with old friends, new friends and stay connected to the pulse and energy of the conference.   In addition to the obvious advantages many of our attendees don't know some of the behind the scenes reasons.

The UPA Conference is an important revenue generating event.  The only way we can actually make money at the conference, is to have enough conference attendees staying at the hotel that hosts the conference.  The hotel contractual details are complicated, but it basically comes down to this: if we meet our room block (number of nights occupied by UPA attendees), then we won't be charged for some of the conference spaces that we use.  If we don't meet our room block, we will be charged for some of our spaces (with some of the space costing $20,000!).

It comes down to this, if you believe in the organization and you want us to be able to continue to advance the profession, please stay at the hotel.  When making your reservation indicate that you are with the UPA when registering.

Make your reservation at The Fairmont Queen Elizabeth and use the UPA code to get a discounted rate. Room rates for UPA 2005 will be $159* or $175* US single/double per room per night, depending on whether the rooms have been renovated ($199 or $219 Canadian).  Reservation must be made by May 25, 2005 to receive these rates.  (*based on an exchange rate of US $1 to Canadian $1.25 )

For reservations, call 800/441-1414 or 514/861-3511 (use the conference code: "UPA04").
Or, use this link, which will take you to the Fairmont reservation site with the UPA Conference code already entered.
