Stories from the Friends

Each Friend of Usability is a story about someone in a company becoming aware of the value of usability. These stories are not detailed studies of business value, but show some of the human side of usability - the people who make it happen.

• Friend of Usability at DuPont - Rita Seelig-Ayers
  (February 2004) This Information Security Office Program Manager received her “Friends of Usability” award for her role as “Usability Advocate” and ensuring that usability was incorporated into the redesign for a large enterprise application.
• Usability Has Ten Friends at Trane Global Controls and Contracting
  (June 2003) - An ad-hoc team worked on usability training for Trane's installers, not only improving the product, but becoming usability advocates.
• Friend of Usability at NIC – Debra Luling
  (June 2003) - A general manager turns usability advocate as a new usability process brings a key site to first in the nation in Brown University’s third annual survey of state e-government performance.
